What is a home page?
A home page is a personal web page which created by individuals
themselves (usually), containing personal information, perhaps
about the author himself/herself, or on topics he/she is interested
in. The author will often also include some links (to other web
pages).
The Internet has grown so quickly because of how information
flows so freely, and how people share what they know with one
another. So continue to spread this spirit by sharing what you
know with others, and do not take it personally if someone else
may have followed your style in creating his/her web page. That's
actually a compliment - someone actually felt that your web
page was good enough to be used as an example!
Every home page has an address, called a URL, Uniform Resource
Locator. For SingNet users, this will be in the following forms:
http://web.singnet.com.sg/~userid
URL determination
The usage plan a SingNet user is on will determine his/her URL
format:
For user on the Toll-Free
usage plans, the URL will be:-
http://web.singnet.com.sg/~userid
For user on the Mbox2
or Non Toll-Free usage plans, the URL will also be:-
http://web.singnet.com.sg/~userid
What is userid
Userid is your username that you use to log on to the internet.
For example: if you use the username "tan" the URL
will be:
http://web.singnet.com.sg/~tan
Default Main Page
In order to set up your main personal page as the default page
(from which you can then add links to your other pages), the
main page should be named index.html or index.htm,
or welcome.html or welcome.htm.
When your personal pages directory on the SingNet server contains
a default web page named as above, someone loading up your home
using the URL: http://web.singnet.com.sg/~userid will be greeted
with your main page first. If you do not have a file named index.html
or index.htm, or welcome.html or welcome.htm,
then all the files stored in your personal pages directory will
be listed.
Subsequent pages may be named with any other name. Creating
a link from the default page to your subsequent pages will allow
other users to access your other pages easily.

HTML for more details.
