What is SmartFix?
SmartFix is an automated desktop tool that provides technical support at your fingertips by identifying and repairing connection problems that may affect your SingNet BroadBand service.

How much will SmartFix cost me?
SmartFix is provided to SingNet customers FREE OF CHARGE as a value-add to your service.

What does SmartFix protect and fix?
SmartFix will assist in improving your web surfing experience, where the cause of inconveniency might relate to your email settings, connectivity speed, Internet browser settings and configurations, as well as web server traffics and bottleneck identification.



 
 
 
     
 
 

APPLICATION FUNCTIONALITIES

Does SmartFix work when I’m not connected to the Internet?
Yes, as SmartFix resides on your computer, it has the ability of resolving connection problems directly from your computer so you can quickly get back online.

Which email program is supported by SmartFix?
SmartFix can configure and repair your email account profile for Windows Mail (Vista), Outlook Express version 5.5 & above and Microsoft Outlook 2000 & above.

Will SmartFix stop me from doing anything on my computer?
SmartFix will only monitor and fix issues specifically related to your Internet Service. The tool will not modify any other software on your computer. In addition, the tool will never perform any action without first prompting you for permission.


 
 
 
     
 
 

USING THE APPLICATION

Do I have to install SmartFix?
The installation of the SmartFix tool is completely at your discretion. SingNet however would strongly recommend you to install SmartFix since it will ensure you are connected, browsing the Internet and sending / receiving emails at optimum efficiency.

Can I uninstall SmartFix if I don't like it?
You can remove SmartFix from your computer at anytime by running the un-installation program provided to you with the tool. If you choose to run the un-installation program, SmartFix will remove itself completely from your system and restore your settings to what they are before installing the tool. You will, however, lose the benefits SmartFix provides, such as auto detection and auto fixes. This action is highly NOT RECOMMENDED.

Do I have to uninstall any earlier versions before I install SmartFix?
If you already have SmartFix installed and running in your PC, SmartFix will auto-update the latest version. However, if you encounter problems running SmartFix, please uninstall all previous version of SmartFix before installing SmartFix from this portal.

Please perform the following steps to uninstall SmartFix:
1. Press Start -> Setting -> Control Panel
2. Double-click Change or remove Programs
3. Select SingTel SmartFix
4. Click on Change/Remove Button

What browsers does SmartFix support?
Currently, SmartFix works on Internet Explorer version 5.5 and above.

Will my firewall or anti-virus software block the installation of SmartFix?
SmartFix is compatible with most of the popular firewall and anti-virus in the market.

  • To install SmartFix , please disable your firewall or anti-virus software first .

Windows Firewall

  • Windows Firewall is automatically installed with Windows XP Service Pack 2.  If you have Automatic Updates turned on, you most likely have this installed. Please perform the following steps to temporarily disable the firewall:

1. Press Start -> Setting -> Control Panel
2. Double-click Security Center
3. Select Windows Firewall
4. Select off (not recommended), as shown below:



5. Press OK

Norton Internet Security

1. Open Norton Internet Security
2. Select Status & Settings from the category bar to the left
3. Select Personal Firewall
4. Press the Turn Off button to the right, as shown below:

1. Right-click the McAfee icon in your system tray, select Personal Firewall -> Disable, as shown below:

Will my firewall or anti-virus software block SmartFix when I run the application?
SmartFix is compatible with most of these popular firewall and anti-virus softwares.

Will SmartFix send any information to SingNet without my knowledge or consent?
SmartFix will not perform any action or send any information to SingNet without prompting for your consent first. Every time the tool wishes to perform an action, you will be prompted to accept. You will have the choice of either accept or decline the action.



 
 
 
     
 
 

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

What are the system requirements to run SmartFix?
1. Minimum CPU – 500mhz
2. Minimum HD space – 200MB
3. Minimum RAM – 128MB
4. Microsoft Internet Explorer: version 5.5 and above
5. Operating System: Microsoft Windows 2000, XP & Vista


What are the supported modems?


Additional types of modems will be supported in the near future.


What is telemetry code and what does it do?
Telemetry code is a serial number that contains information of your system and modem settings generated by SmartFix upon detection of error. This information will be sent to the Technical Support Centre upon your approval.

What is Diagnostic code and what does it do?
Diagnostic code is a serial number that contains information of your system and modem settings generated by SmartFix upon detection of error. This is to be taken down and given to the Technical Helpdesk Personnel if you were to call the helpdesk.

What if SmartFix cannot fix my problem?
