Microsoft Windows 98/98SE - Create and Setup a SingNet Connection
- On your Windows Desktop, locate and double-click on My Computer icon
- My Computer window opens. Double-click on the Dial-Up Networking icon
- Dial-Up Networking window opens. Double-click on Make New Connection icon
- Make New Connection window opens as displayed below.
- Enter SingNet in the Type a name for the computer you are dialing: entry box.
- Click on the down-arrow to select the modem you are using for your connection.
- Click on the Configure button to ensure that the modem is set correctly.
- Click on General tab to display the window below. The Maximum speed setting should be set to 57600 or 115200 for a 56k/V90 connection
- Click on Connection tab to display the window below. Leave the settings as default.
- Click on Port Settings... button
- Advanced Port Settings window opens. Leave the setting as default and click OK
- Click on Advanced... button. Leave the settings as indicated below.
- Sometimes, however, you may need to enter extra Modem Initialization Strings in the Extra settings entry box to stabilise your connection.
- Click on the OK button to continue
- Click on Options tab to display the window below. Leave the settings as default.
- Click on the OK button to continue
- You will be brought back to the Make New Connection window as displayed below.
- Click on the Next > button to continue
- In the Telephone number entry box, please enter your assigned SingNet account dial-up number. Please refer to your Account Slip or SingNet JumpStart kit CD jacket. You can also get the information here
- In the Country code item, click on the down arrow to display the country code listing and select Singapore(65). For Singapore, you do not enter anything in the Area code entry box.
- Click on the Next > button to continue
- You should see this window. Click on the Finish button to continue
- You will then be brought back to the Dial-Up Networking window, however, there should be one additional icon named Singnet in the folder.
