Dial-Up - I am not able to surf to SingNet

 
Errors in your Internet Connection and Browser settings are some of the common problems that can cause you to encounter difficulty in surfing the Internet. We present here some troubleshooting procedure which should assist you to resolve the problem, under normal condition. However, sometimes the browser client itself is the problem and under such instances, please re-install the browser client so that you can eliminate the browser client from your possible fault list.

Ping
Ping is a simple tool found in Windows OS (not for Macintosh) that allow you to identify whether your Internet Connectivity is alive. We would like you to help us to perform a few commands to determine this. Please follow the steps below:

  1. From the Windows Desktop , go to START > Programs > MS-DOS Prompt
  2. You will see a window appear as shown below




  3. From the MS-DOS prompt, type in ping 165.21.83.88 and followed by <ENTER> key
  4. Working Condition
    You should see a result similar to this:

    Reply from 165.21.83.88: bytes=32 time=1ms TTL=253
    Reply from 165.21.83.88: bytes=32 time=1ms TTL=253
    Reply from 165.21.83.88: bytes=32 time=1ms TTL=253
    Reply from 165.21.83.88: bytes=32 time=1ms TTL=253

    There is nothing wrong with the Network, please go to this link  Configure Browser Settings  to continue further

    Time Out Error
    If you see this error message:

    Request timed out.
    Request timed out.
    Request timed out.
    Request timed out.

    It is normally caused by improper Network settings. Please go to this link  I am not able to connect to SingNet  for the settings, with reference to the Operating System that you are using.

    Destination Host Unreachable Error
    If you see this error message:

    Destination Host Unreachable.
    Destination Host Unreachable.
    Destination Host Unreachable.

    It is mainly caused by improper Gateway and DNS settings. It is normally caused by improper Network settings. Please go to this link  I am not able to connect to SingNet  for the settings, with reference to the Operating System that you are using.

Sometimes you may encounter problems surfing to a particular site. If this happens, you can use the above method to ensure that the site is available. For example, if you cannot surf to an overseas site www.cnet.com, www.anti-virus.com or www.yahoo.com, you can apply the above method by typing the command as

   C:\WINDOWS\ping www.cnet.com or
   C:\WINDOWS\ping www.anti-virus.com or
   C:\WINDOWS\ping www.yahoo.com

Working Condition
You should see the result similar to this:

   Reply from 207.25.71.20: bytes=32 time=1ms TTL=253

Time Out Error
If you see this error message,

   Request timed out.

It is mainly caused by the site is down might be due to network maintainence or some other causes. We suggest that you wait for a while or call their site Hotline to check out the problem.
(Please do not call our hotline for this problem as the site is not owned by us)

Configure Browser Settings
Next is the browser settings. In this section, we will be showing you the steps on how to set the proxy settings and clear away the browser cache. In almost all SingNet connections, you need to set the SingNet proxy settings to access overseas sites. Please select your browser from the list below:
