There are 3 types of Dialer Configuration which are dependent on the MacOS and component used
- ConfigPPP - [Applicable to MacOS 7.1 to 7.53]
- Open Transport - [Applicable to MacOS 7.53 to 8.1]
- FreePPP 2.52 2.57 2.61 - [Applicable to MacOS 7.53 to 8.1]
(Note: FreePPP is a 3rd Party software)
ConfigPPP - [Applicable to MacOS 7.1 to 7.53]
- Click on the Apple Menu > Control Panels > TCP/IP
- If you are configuring Config PPP for the first time, please click on New... button and proceed to step 3. However, if this is not a first time configuration, please click on Config... button and proceed to step 5

- Type in SingNet as PPP server name
- Click on OK button to continue

- Configure the settings as follows :
PPP Server Name : SingNet
Port Speed : Depend on modem brand/model
Flow Control : None
Select Tone Dial
Phone num: 171XX
(Please enter your assigned SingNet account dial-up number. Please refer to your Account Slip or SingNet JumpStart kit CD jacket. You can also get the information here)
Modem Init: As indicated here
- Click on Connect Script... button to continue

- Leave the setting empty as shown below and click on OK button

- You will be brought back to the Configure window
- Click on Authentication... button
- Type in your userid and password as Auth. ID and Password respectively
- Click on OK button

- You will be brought back to the Configure window
- Click on LCP Options... button
- Leave the setting as shown below and click on OK button

- You will be brought back to the Configure window
- Click on IPCP Options... button
- Leave the setting as shown below and click on OK button

- You will be brought back to the Configure window
- Click on Done button to update the settings.

- You have successfully configured ConfigPPP.
- You will be brought back to the ConfigPPP window. Click on Open button to connect to SingNet


Config PPP Configuration in MacOS is completed
Open Transport - [Applicable to MacOS 7.53 to 8.1]
Note : There will be no Modem Strings setting for Open Transport PPP
- From the Apple Menu > Control Panels > PPP
- A PPP dialog window opens
- If you have more than 1 account/configuration, then go to step 4 to select the account/configuration that you want to change. However, if you only have one account/configuration, then please go to step 7 to continue

- Go to the Macintosh desktop menubar and click on File > Configuration...

- Select the desired account or configuration and click on the Make Active button

- You will be brought back to the PPP dialog window
- Type in your userid and password at Name: and Password: option respectively
- In the Number: entry box, please enter your assigned SingNet account dial-up number. Please refer to your Account Slip or SingNet JumpStart kit CD jacket. You can also get the information here
- Click on Options.. button to continue

- The Options window opens
- Under the Redialing tab , leave the setting as default
- Click Connection tab to proceed

- Under the Connection tab , leave the setting as default
- Click Protocol tab to proceed

- Configure the settings as follows :
- Use protocol: select PPP
- Please tick or check mark this item ONLY
Connect automatically when starting TCP/IP applications
- Leave all the rest as unticked or unchecked
- Click on OK button to update the configuration

- You will be brougth back to the PPP window
Open Transport Configuration in MacOS is completed
Free PPP Version 2.52 - [Applicable to MacOS 7.53 to 8.1]
- Click on Apple Menu > Control Panels > FreePPP Setup
- The FreePPP Setup dialog window opens
- Click on the General tab and click on the Modem Setup... button

- The FreePPP Modem Setup window opens. Ensure these settings are set:
- In the Connected to option, please select Modem Port
- In the Dial Type option, please select Tone
Click on OK button

- You will be brought back to the General tab.
- Click on the Open TCP/IP... button
- The TCP/IP Setup window opens. Ensure these settings are set:
- In the Connect via: option, please select FreePPP
- In the Configure: option, please select Using PPP Server
Close the window and save the settings

- You will be brought back to the General tab.
- Click on the Accounts tab
- Highlight SingNet and click on Edit... button
(If you do not have SingNet, click on New... and type in SingNet for server name)

- The Account Setup window opens. Ensure these settings are set:
- In the Server name: item, please enter SingNet
- In the Phone Number: item, please enter your assigned SingNet account dial-up number. Please refer to your Account Slip or SingNet JumpStart kit CD jacket. You can also get the information here
- In the Connect: item, please select Directly
- In the User name: item, please enter your userid
- In the Password: item, please enter your Login password
- Click on Connection tab to continue

- The Connection Setup window opens. Ensure these settings are set:
- In the Port Speed item, please select your modem speed
(This will depend on the type of modem you are using)
- In the Flow Control item, please select this setting CTS & RTS (DTR)
- Click on the Options tab to continue

- The Options window opens. Ensure these settings are set:
- In the Domain name: item, please enter singnet.com.sg
- In the Primary DNS: item, please enter 165.21.83.88
- In the Secondary DNS: item, please enter 165.21.100.88
- In the IP address: item, please select Assigned by PPP server
Click on OK button to end the settings

- You will be brought back to the Accounts tab.
- Click on the Locations tab
- Highlight the item Home and click on Edit... button

- The FreePPP Location Configuration window opens. Ensure these settings are set:
- Leave the settings here as default. This means that the Account option Connect: Directly, previously set, will be used, unless you want to make an external or long distance call
Click on OK button to end the settings

- You will be brought back to the FreePPP Locations tab window.
- Ensure these settings are set:
- Connect to : SingNet
- From : Home

- You can now connect by clicking on the Connect button
FreePPP Version 2.52 Configuration in MacOS is completed
Free PPP Version 2.57 - [Applicable to MacOS 7.53 to 8.1]
- Click on Apple Menu > Control Panels > FreePPP Setup
- The FreePPP Setup dialog window opens
- Click on the General tab and click on Open TCP/IP... button

- The TCP/IP Setup window opens. Ensure these settings are set:
- In the Connect via: option, please select FreePPP
- In the Configure: option, please select Using PPP Server
Close the window and save the settings

- You will be brought back to the General tab.
- Click on the Accounts tab

(If you do not have SingNet, click on New... and type in SingNet for server name)

- The Options window opens. Ensure these settings are set:

- You will be brought back to the FreePPP Setup Modems tab window
- To connect please select the option as follows :
- Connect to : SingNet
- From : Home
- Using : Select the Modem you are using

- You can now connect by clicking on the Connect button
FreePPP Version 2.57 Configuration in MacOS is completed
Free PPP Version 2.61 - [Applicable to MacOS 7.53 to 8.1]
- Click on Apple Menu > Control Panels > FreePPP Setup
- The FreePPP Setup dialog window opens
- Click on the General tab and click on Open TCP/IP... button

- The TCP/IP Setup window opens. Ensure these settings are set:
- In the Connect via: option, please select FreePPP
- In the Configure: option, please select Using PPP Server
Close the window and save the settings

- You will be brought back to the General tab.
- Click on the Accounts tab
