Macintosh 8.5 and Above - Configuring Remote Access

 

  1. Click on the Apple Menu > Control Panels > Remote Access




  2. The Remote Access dialog window opens
  3. If you have more than 1 account/configuration, then go to step 4 to select the account/configuration that you want to change. However, if you only have one account/configuration, then please go to step 7 to continue




  4. Go to the Macintosh desktop menubar and click on File > Configuration...




  5. Select the desired account or configuration and click on the Make Active button




  6. You will be brought back to the Remote Access dialog window
  7. Type in your userid and password at Name and Password option respectively
  8. Type in the phone number (Please refer to the system configurtaion)
  9. Click on Options.. button. to proceed




  10. Under the Redialing tab, leave the setting as default
  11. Click Connection tab to proceed




  12. Under the Connection tab, leave the setting as default
  13. Click Protocol tab to proceed




  14. Configure the settings as follows:
    • In the item Use protocol: please select PPP
    • In the item Connect automatically when starting TCP/IP applications please put a check mark or tick
    • Leave the rest of the items unchecked or unticked

  15. Click on OK button to end the configuration





  16. Remote Access Configuration in MacOS is completed
