Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional - Configure SingNet Dial-Up Connection and Network Properties
Important Note :
Before you proceed with the setup, please ensure that you have the original version of Windows 2000 installation CD-ROM with you.
- From the Windows Desktop, double click on My Computer icon
- My Computer window opens. Double-click on the Control Panel icon
- Control Panel window opens. Double click on the Network and Dial-up Connections icon
- Network and Dial-up Connections window opens. Double click on the SingNet icon
- The Connect SingNet window opens. Click on the Properties button
- Click on the General tab. Ensure the following settings are set correctly:
- Connect using : Modem/Modem driver that you have installed is selected
- Phone number : Please enter your assigned SingNet account dial-up number. Please refer to your Account Slip or SingNet JumpStart kit CD jacket. You can also get the information from SingNet System Configuration
- Do not check "use dialing rules" option
- Click on the option box Show icon in taskbar when connected
- Click on the Options tab
- Ensure that the following Dialing option boxes are ticked
- Display progress while connecting
- Prompt for name and password, certificate, etc
- Click on Security tab
- Ensure that the following Security option box is selected.
- Typical (Recommended settings)
- Click on Networking tab
- Ensure that the following Networking settings are set
- Type of dial-up server I am calling: PPP: Windows 95/98/NT4/2000 , Internet
- Components checked are used by this connection:
Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
(Please see the graphics below for reference)
- Highlight Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click on Properties button
- Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties window opens. Configure the following settings :
- Click on the option box Obtain an IP address automatically
- Click on the option box Use the following DNS server addresses
Prefered DNS server: 165.21.83.88
Alternate DNS server: 165.21.100.88
- Click on the Advanced... button
- Click on the General tab and ensure that the following option box is ticked:
- Use default gateway on remote network
- Click on DNS tab
- Leave the settings as default and click on WINS tab
- Leave the settings as default and click on Options tab
- Leave the settings as default and click on OK button
- Click on OK button
- Click on Sharing tab
- Leave the settings as default and click on OK button to end
- Click on Dial button if you want to connect to SingNet
