Technical Support - Roaming - iPass - Wireless Connection  

 

Common wireless roaming connection problems are :

  1. Unable to Login

  2. Here are some possible solutions you should perform :

    • Check Login ID

    • Ensure the format is email address e.g. userid@singnet.com.sg .

    • Check Password Reset

    • Ensure that you have not reset your login password in 2-3 hours ago. It is not updated immediately to the roaming autheticate server. It will takes effect after 3 hours.

    • Check that you are at the Correct Location

    • Please ensure that you are at the location as indicate in the GIRC phonelist.

    • Check that you are not Out of Range

    • The signal coverage is typically about 20 - 30 meters in radius from the wireless base station. The signal strength may be affected if there are barriers (e.g wall) between yourself and the wireless base station. Try to move your location around the area to get a better signal coverage.

    • Check that your Wireless Card is able to associate to the Wireless Base Station

    • Remember to use the "SSID" that was obtained from GRIC MobileOffice and disable WEP.
      Below shows a list of tested and approved Wireless Card and select the type of Wireless Card that you are using :
    • Re-Install Wireless Card Driver

    • Corrupted driver will be unable to connect to anywhere. Please refer to the Wireless Card Vendor to assist on the installation.

    • Check that your Wireless Card is not faulty

    • If you suspect that your wireless card is faulty , please refer the support to the wireless card vendor.

    • Check that Wireless Base Station is working

    • Please call the ISP that host the wireless base station for network status. You can get their hotlines from the Detail or follow the same steps as "Get Help at Oversea".

    • Update Phonebook

    • Try to update the iPass Connection phonebook locally before going to oversea. Sometimes the access number has changed.

    • Connecting to Wireless Roaming

    • Show you the proper way to connect to wireless roaming.

    • Get Help at Oversea

    • From the GRIC program , you can get the oversea ISP help line.

  3. Cannot Send Email


    • Check your mail servers as follows:

    • Mail Servers
      Incoming Mail (POP3): "pop.singnet.com.sg"
      Outgoing Mail (SMTP): "mail.singnet.com.sg"
      (without quotation)

      Alternate Mail Servers
      Incoming Mail (POP3): "globalpop.singnet.com.sg"
      Outgoing Mail (SMTP): "globalmail.singnet.com.sg"
      (without quotation)

    • Enter proper email address "userid@singnet.com.sg" at the Replying Email Address as it will cause problem when sending email if it is not properly done.


    • When sending and receiving mails from the server, please try at least twice to confirm that the process has completed successfully


    • Click here if you do not know how to configure the email client


  4. Cannot Surf the Internet
    • Check that web browser are configured to the proxy setting requirement
